The on set experience is a week-long intensive working with Christian professionals, industry-level equipment, and a team of students like yourself.

During the week, you will work on set helping create a film for a real client, and also work with a team to produce a 30-second student commercial.

Work on a Real-Life Client Film Project

Learn about what it takes to produce a high-end promotional film – from the client interactions and team dynamic, to how to conduct yourself in a professional manner that will impress your clients. This year we are producing a brand film for Ellerslie!

Learn Technical Skills

During the week you will have the opportunity to learn in two different departments and be mentored in those skill sets.  

Write and Produce a Student Film

In the second half of the week, you will work together with your assigned team to create a 30-second commercial concept and pitch it to a client. The winning ideas will then be created!

What You’ll Learn

Real Life Environment

You’ll get valuable experience with how a set operates, set etiquette, teamwork, working in your assigned department, and more.

Classes & Networking

Throughout the week there will be time for you to network with the teachers and other students. Mealtimes are a great place to continue building camaraderie and ask questions!

Production Skills

Learn about cinematography, lighting, set design, makeup, sound and more while working hands-on with the teachers for both a client film and a student film.

Gear & Equipment

From on-set sound recording to high quality lenses and cameras, we provide you with the opportunity to work with industry gear to best capture the client’s story.

Who Should Attend?

For many people as intermediate-level filmmakers, there’s often a gap. You know where you want to go, you have an idea of the kind of work you want to create . . . but you just don’t know how to get there.

If you feel this way, you’re not alone. Here at MU, we’re passionate about helping you find the bridge across that gap. Whether you’re just starting out or have been doing some work on your own, this week on set offers an intensive hands-on experience to help you get your filmmaking career on the way to success.

2. Nail Down Your Logistics

Once you’re signed up, our logistics coordinator Lori will contact you to discuss any travel details, dietary needs, etc.

3. Get Up to Speed

Hannah will set up a time for a personalized phone call to go over any questions and what to expect at our 2019 on set experience!
