COO, Motion University
Registration for the Fall MU Course is open for just five more days. We want to share a quick story of Grant, a guy who was passionate about filmmaking and just a year after taking the course, is successfully booking projects and getting paid.
Here is his story in his own words:
“Before taking Motion University the filmmaking process had seemed confusing and complicated. Since the age of 13 I had produced a number of different short films, wedding films, and music videos, but having just graduated from high school I was unsure about how I was going to take this passion for making films and progress in making this into a financially viable career. I was also not convinced that I could make an emotional and cinematic promotional film that I would be proud of.
“When I enrolled in Motion University, all that changed. The instructors walked me step-by-step through the process of producing a cinematic and emotionally compelling promotional video. Literally within the duration of 8 weeks, everything I had learned about filmmaking before the course made sense to me, and fell into a logical sequence. After the course I was finally able to see clearly what I needed to do continue to improve my filmmaking skills. The teachers constantly made themselves available to answer all my questions and help me work through challenges and frustrations of producing quality films.
“Not long after the course, I was given the opportunity to travel across the country to produce a promotional video for a company in Alaska (in part because of the video I had produced during the MU course). Before taking MU this would have been very intimidating, but the instructors at MU had helped me to create a repeatable process for creating content that serve the needs of the client and that I am proud of. Therefore, I was able to approach that project with confidence I wouldn’t have thought was possible before taking MU.
“I have looked into many of the different filmmaking courses available online, and haven’t found one that is more intentionally structured, that is filled with more practical application, or where the teachers have made themselves more available than Motion University.
“Something that often bothers me is that filmmaking instructors aren’t skilled at what they teach, this just is not the case with MU. Each of the teachers are deeply involved in the filmmaking industry and are producing incredible content. They practice what they preach.
“Looking back, it’s clear that not taking MU would have been a huge mistake. The training that the Motion University instructors have provided has been hands down one of the greatest investments I have made in my filmmaking career.”
